The preliminary business plan estimates that the cost to build the Renfrew Green Energy Facility will be carried by the money generated through the sale of heat and electricity. Generally facilities of this type would recoup their costs within 5 to 7 years. The final report will provide firmer numbers on this aspect of the project.

How will the environment be affected?

The co-generation process and technologies being considered feature state-of-the-art systems that meet or exceed all existing or future expected emission regulations. In addition, they would only be put in place when al appropriate environmental approvals are received.
